Pulmonology
A sub specialty of internal medicine concerned with diseases of the lungs and bronchial tubes, which often involves evaluation of the upper respiratory tract (nose, pharynx and throat) as well as the heart. Some of the diseases managed by a pulmonologist are allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer diagnosis, pneumoconiosis, pneumonia, pneumothorax, psittacosis, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary sequestration, sarcoidosis, sleep apnea, and tuberculosis.
